Good morning, healthy and holy family! Welcome back to the blog. We are so glad you are here.

Healthy And Holy exists to create a community to bring people together and faith, fellowship, and fun.

to create a community, we gathered to have real and rock on talking through real life, and how to do it together.

So today I want to take a moment and talk about something. I think we are all facing this time of year.

SEASONAL DEPRESSION

yes! I know I said it. The thing we all dread, the thing that nobody talks about, but the thing we all face in this gloomy time of year.

It will hit you like a truck, sweep you under the rug and pull you so far under, so you wonder if you will ever make it out. I want you to know that you are not alone, that you have a community here, and that God is with you, and this isn't the end of your story.

No, it's pretty common, you're not sending, and you're not crazy. Fighting for joy, fighting to get out of bed every day, fighting to stay on task, fighting to fix those New Year's resolutions. The list goes on in the ways it can hit you, but you are not alone.

During this time of year, if you live somewhere where there is snow and cold, and lack of sunshine, your body becomes very deficient and vitamin D amongst others. Your immune system gets low because you're not exposed to the normal vitamins and bacteria that you would be taking in in the sunshine. Cold and flu and sickness, run rampant, so that certainly doesn't help in this season. with all of that being said, it's no wonder your body slumps into a depression. Your body is fighting for you with little help. This kind of depression isn't a choice, it's affected by your basic biology.

So what can you do to fix this? Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Supplement vitamin D, and C.

  2. Get as much fresh air as possible. It will help boost your immune system.

  3. Take a walk, find a small way to move your body and exercise. The endorphins are released in a workout will do wonders.

  4. Talk to counselor or therapist, therapy is not weak, it will help boost your confidence and walk you through the dark season.

  5. Surround yourself with family and friends, find a church group to keep you steady and going strong. Living in community will bring so much more joy.

  6. Don't shut yourself indoors, that is the first and biggest thing that will keep you in the slump.

  7. Start a Bible study or read a book. Something to keep you centered untying your joy in the Lord. He is your biggest of strength and comfort, he provides the way, truth and life to bring you out of the dark.

  8. Try massages, and UV light therapy.

  9. If you can take a small getaway to somewhere warm with sunshine. Just a short weekend away in the sunshine. Can do wonders.

  10. Work on establishing healthy and holy habits through this season, and do one thing better every day. Don't set goals or resolutions, sky, high, just focus on doing one skill better every day.

  11. Take a bath, call a friend, book the massage, put on the facemask, etc. Self-care is highly important during this time.

  12. So much of your mental emotional health is linked to your gut. If you have poor gut health, depression is one of the biggest symptoms. So make sure your gut is healthy. Get yourself a good gut health regimen.

some of these tips have helped me so much in fighting, seasonal depression. They are natural ways to get your body, moving, build backyard, immune system, and to help you restore and refresh your mind.

Remember, you are not alone, this isn't sin, and the Susan doesn't last forever. You will get through this, and you have a community standing behind you, and the Lord is always with you.

I hope these tips are helpful! And we look forward to seeing you in the next post at healthy. Thank you for tuning in.💛

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12: 1-3
